Due to a technical difficulty, the video ends before the completion of Sen. Bernie Sanders response. You can see the end of the town hall meeting here if you fast forward to timemark 1:01:09

You may never watch a more important video, so I strongly encourage you to view the entire town hall meeting, but if I could single out a moment, that moment comes at timemark 00:07:35 because Sen. Sanders nails what Hillary Clinton and the DNC got (and continues to get) wrong.

My representative in Congress, Jim Renacci (OH-16) would do well to watch this, but I seriously doubt that the Coal Company-loving Renacci would ever bother because he would have to feel at least a modicum of shame over his support of coal profits.

  1. Jeff,

MSNBC just finished airing Senator Bernie Sanders’ long-awaited town hall in McDowell County, West Virginia with Chris Hayes only a few moments ago. We want everyone across America, in blue states, red states and the battlegrounds, to hear what the folks in McDowell County had to say.

Growing income inequality has devastated communities like McDowell County all across the nation. Jobs have vanished because of terrible trade deals — and now their health care is at risk as Congressional Republicans try to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. As many as 24 million Americans could be uninsured by 2026 if the Republicans repeal Obamacare.

We’re in the fight of our lives to create good jobs, protect Social Security, and ensure affordable health care is available to everyone.

Places like McDowell County have been neglected by the political establishment for generations. They’re suffering from crises like the opioid epidemic, shrinking life expectancies, and even having to choose between food and utility bills. Millions of our fellow Americans are living this reality every day, but their stories are too often shut out from cable news.

We want to change that, because the only way that we can end poverty, fix health care and improve the quality of life for all Americans is to transform our political system so it works for everyone. It won’t always be easy. But people like you are joining with Our Revolution in local communities across the country to stand together and protect our communities from unprecedented power grab by Wall Street and the Washington elite.

We’re organizing across towns and communities just like McDowell County, fighting to make sure that Washington puts working families ahead of special interests.

Let’s go forward together to bring about the change we need.

    In solidarity,

    Shannon Jackson
    Executive Director
    Our Revolution
