CCPC Valentine’s Day Doubleheader
Game 1 (Pregame)—Sending All Our Love to Senator Portman: A CCPC and Indivisible Guide Project. We hope you can pick up the sarcasm! We should not be happy with Portman’s support of the Swamp Cabinet. Now we want to be sure that Portman knows that the people he is supposed to represent DO NOT support his choice for Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch. Here’s what you can do:
1) Find a sheet of paper and an envelope;
2) Write a letter to Senator Portman voicing your opinion about the Supreme Court choice. One handwritten, or typed, and signed page is enough. BE SURE to include a few questions so that his staff will have to take the time and respond. ALSO include a return address so you can get a response;
3) Fold the letter and seal it in an envelope;
4) Write “Senator Portman” on the front of the envelope AND your return address (again) in the top left; and
5) Return it to one of these locations:
Harvard Community Services Center @ 18204 Harvard Ave. Cleveland between 6:30 and 8:30 pm today. Starbucks @ 12405 Cedar Rd. Cleveland Heights between 1 and 4 pm Sunday. CCPC Office @ 11910 Detroit Ave. Lakewood anytime via mail slot (you can also mail letters to the office).
All letters must be received BEFORE 9 am 14 February. Please try to get family, friends and other organizations you may be involved with to also write letters.
Game 1—Valentines Day Action! Join us downtown at Portman’s office (1240 East 9th Street) at noon as we deliver to his Cleveland office staff a Valentine’s Day gift of what we are hoping (with your help) will be 1,000 letters from his constituents. Feel free to bring whatever sign you feel is appropriate. We’ll send out a press release and hope for some media coverage.
Game 2 (pregame)—CCPC Press Conference. Friday, 10 February, from 10 to 11 am at the CCPC Office, 11910 Detroit Ave. Lakewood. At this Press Conference CCPC will announce it’s support of The We’re Not All In! Stop Corporate Welfare at the Q Campaign. Please attend if you can so that we can have a good size crowd for the media.
Game 2 (Doubleheader Nightcap)—We’re Not All In! Stop Corporate Welfare at the Q. Cuyahoga County Council Meeting from 5 to 7 pm @ 2079 E. 9th St. Cleveland. At their February 14th meeting the Cuyahoga County Council is expected to discuss the proposed corporate welfare gift to the Q for their renovation project. The Cleveland Cavaliers are worth $1.1 billion yet they expect Cuyahoga County taxpayers to foot half the bill for their renovations. Please attend to voice your opposition to this misuse of taxpayer dollars!
Special Thanks to those of you who attended the March for Refugees and Sanctuary Cities last Friday, the No DAPL Cleveland Rally last Saturday and the DeVos Protest outside Portman’s Cleveland Office on Monday. Hope you all are rested enough and/or angry enough at the events of the last few days so that you can make one (or both) of CCPC’s Valentine’s Day Doubleheader.
