LatinOH Votan: March to the Polls: Thursday, November 3 4:30 to 7:30 at La Mega 87.7 Cleveland 5000 Euclid Ave. Cleveland 44130. Join Hispanic Alliance and others for an early voting party and march to the polls. We will start with a ” meet and greet ” at the offices of La Mega at the Agora Building 5000 Euclid Ave. Enter in the back and meet in the lobby. Refreshments served and free parking behind the building. At 5:30 we will start a candlelight march to the Board of Elections, and then we will vote. It can’t be denied that America’s healthcare system is dysfunctional and unjust because the pharmaceutical and health insurance companies prioritize profit over people’s lives. Join us for the Ohio premiere of Now’s the Time followed by a panel discussion including filmmakers and activists from Demand Universal Healthcare, Single Payer Action Network of Ohio and National Nurses United who will answer questions after the film.

Chapter 39 Veterans for Peace will stage it’s 10th annual public readings of wartime letters dating from our American Revolution to the current Mideast Wars. “By bringing human voice to battlefield messages sent to loved ones over 240 years of war we revive war’s reality for both writer and recipient as well as for ourselves as witness.” said Walter Nicholes, chapter spokesperson and World War II veteran.

Let’s call on Senator Portman to Demand the National Forest service withdraw consent for BLM’s auction of oil/gas leasing in Wayne National Forest, Ohio’s only National Forest. We will meet at 11:30 am in front of the Cleveland Office. Bring whatever sign you feel is appropriate. Remembering Tamir Rice: Saturday, November 26 2 pm at Cudell Recreation Center 1910 West Blvd. Cleveland 44102. November 22 will mark the second anniversary of Tamir Rice’s death. The 12 year old was carrying a toy airsoft gun when officer Timothy Loehmann shot him within seconds of arriving on the scene. A Grand Jury decided not to indict the killer. Samaria Rice, Tamir’s mother said ” He was full of light and laughter. Tamir had the potential to become anything in the world but officers Loehmann and Garmbach didn’t give him a chance.” Due to a corrupt system Samaria Rice has a dead child. However, he will always live in our hearts. Join us to honor the memory of Tamir and show support for his family.
CCPC Community Issues Forum: Thursday, December 1 6:30 pm at the Newburgh Heights Village Hall 3801 Harvard Ave Newburgh Heights 44105. This event is a partial preview of where CCPC is headed in 2017. Come and hear representatives of campaigns and issues CCPC will be supporting give a short presentation followed by questions from the audience. Speakers TBD.
