GOOD MORNING MYANMAR…
October 19th, 2009
On this Wednesday, 21 October, the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives will hear testimony on Myanmar. Scheduled for the first panel is State Department Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt M. Campbell. The second panel includes Executive Director Aung Din of the U.S. Campaign for Burma.
Joining Aung Din on the second pannel are Advocacy Director Tom Malinowski for Human Rights Watch and Professor Chris Beyrer, Professor of Epidemiology, International Health, and Health, Behavior, and Society, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

There were a series of bombings in public places, on buses and in industrial areas of Yangon, Myanmar, resulting in deaths of dozens of innocent people and wounding hundreds. The committee must find out who is responsible and on whose funding these terrorist acts were carried out. Most important is to find out if any funding of the US Federal Budget was in it (training, execution, supplies, etc), especially that of “Endowment for Democracy” thing. And if the so called ” democracy activists” were ever involved. Because the Myanmar government has been pointing out that one or many of the ” Burmese Freedom Fighters” are ever involved. If it is true we can say that the Global War on terror EXCLUDES if any terrorist act is done “IN THE NAME OF DEMOCRACY”.
Shalom Tommy,
First, thank you for stopping in, for reading and most importantly, for taking the time to add to the dialog. We build our community with our conversations.
Second, you last point goes to the heart of our recent irrationality regarding all-things terrorist. We forget that to the British, the American colonists were Terrorists. We forget that to the citizens of Atlanta, General Tecumseh Sherman was a terrorist. We forget that to the many of the peoples of Central America we are the terrorists.
The word is much over used, little understood and of questionable value.
B’shalom,
Jeff
